Ever wonder why we have an empty and disappointed feeling no matter what we acquire or achieve in this world? I remember as a college student I worked for a company that manufactured elevator parts and one day came across my supervisor’s check laying on his desk. Curious I snuck a peek and saw that it was over 3x what I made. After that day I thought if only I had his position and pay that I would be happy. Surprisingly my supervisor left that position for a lower paying ministry position. His shocking behavior along with my own personal experience throughout the years has shown me that as God’s people we’ll never be satisfied with the things of this world not because they’re not nice or enjoyable, but simply because it’s not our life. Paul tells the believers at Colossae what truly will bring true enjoyment and satisfaction for a believer in Col.3:1-4 “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.” So if you’re striving and struggling for the things of this world remember that nothing will give us the joy, significance and meaning Christ does because he is our life.
